A Lorcha

Many say this is one of the best restaurants in Macau. Book in advance if you come on a weekend or Hong Kong holiday. Famous for their clams, African chicken and charcoal grilled items.

Cafe Toscana

Great little pizzas, pasta and decent red wine. Just perfect when you are ready for a change from Chinese and Portuguese. Nearby are two great gelato places, Lemoncello and?? - a nice way to finish your meal.

City of Dreams

a large clump of hotels, casinos, restaurants and entertainment venues located just across a road from the Venetian. As elsewhere in the strip, there is quite a wide choice of restaurants, mostly upmarket, with many different styles of food.

Clube Militar

Built as a club for Portuguese military officers, it is now a classy restaurant.

Dumbo Restaurant

Dumbo Restaurant serves Macau style Portuguese food that is famous in Macau. From curry crab, fried eel, steak grilled with onion, pork cutlet cooked in tomato sauce.

Fernando's

Traditional Portuguese food, especially barbecue and seafood: lots of salty bacalhau (dried cod) and clams. Neither the decor nor the food are fancy, and it's expensive for what you get, but it's a Macau institution and has a devoted following. Just off Hac Sa beach, with a courtyard bar at the back.

Lord Stow's Bakery

Sit-down cafe and a bakery at the Village Square. A Macau institution, Lord Stow's is famous for its cheesecakes, fruitcakes, sandwiches, and most of all, its Macanese egg tarts, which are now available from franchises throughout Asia.

Margaret's Café e Nata

Macau's second most famous pastel de nata (egg tart) spot - the owner used to be married to the famous Lord Stow of Coloane - has a much lower profile. In addition to platefuls of piping-hot egg tarts (10 patacas), they also have a good range of pastries and sandwiches made to order. Take a cup of espresso and sit on the terrace outside.

Nga Tim

What a beautiful outdoor setting! Located in the colonnade on the left as you face St. Francis Xavier Church, the restaurant serves up authentic Portuguese and Chinese fare with views of the church plaza and the waterfront. Popular with tourists and locals, they accept credit cards and are reasonably priced.

Noodle and Congee Corner

It's more like a restaurant than a "corner" and they prepare various style noodles while you (can) watch. Excellent quality and quite reasonable for such a special treat.

Porto Exterior

Bustling, unpretentious restaurant with reasonably authentic and tasty Portuguese and Macanese fare. Try the arroz de cabidela (MOP 78) and wash it down with a glass of the house wine (MOP 35).

Robuchon au Dôme

formerly Robuchon a Galera

This French restaurant at the Grand Lisboa is operated by the famed Joël Robuchon. It is the only three Michelin star rated restaurant in Macau for the 2012 guide.

Dinner can be expensive, with the top degustation menu costing MOP2,388 per person, but lunch is considered good value for a venue of this reputation, with 2 courses plus dessert priced from MOP398.

素友品味

A tiny, very casual vegetarian restaurant. The atmosphere is of a low-key social event at a neighbor's house—if you speak Cantonese you can join in whatever conversation is going on.

MOP35 for a combo (rice, soup, and several dishes). If it's not enough to fill you up, there's no charge for another helping

Wong Chi Kei

A good place to go to fill up with rice and noodles. Open till late.

Food Paradise

A food court with a good range of choices generally at better prices than elsewhere in Cotai, albeit with less sumptuous decor and service.

Pousada de Coloane

Pousada de Coloane, and facing the picturesque Cheoc Van Beach, this splendid restaurant serves delicious, home-style Portuguese cuisine in a lovely environment.
