Seafood is this restaurant's specialty and its menu has a wide variety of fish and shellfish to choose from. There are a number of other dishes for the non-seafood lover as well.

Arauco Premium Outlet Buenaventura

It's a little far from Santiago, but there are plenty of stores there. You can find Lacoste, Zara and other trademark stores. You can go there by car, by bus and metro or by taxi. If you are taking the metro, go to the Vespucio norte station at orange line. Then, exit the station and cross the road to catch the bus. The bus number is B05. Make sure that your Bip! card has enough funds for you to come back to the station, because using the card is the only way that you can catch a bus in Santiago and you can't recharge the card in the outlet. It's very hard to catch a taxi when you are returning because this outlet is far away from the city and no taxi driver wants to pick you up there. It's better to just take the bus to the Vespucio Norte Metro station and travel by metro to your hotel.

Bar Liguria

This bar looks like a 1950s American diner and plays music ranging from classic 1950s rock to what you'd hear in a mid-2000s London pub. For all that, it's clearly no tourist trap and the clientele are mainly local. At the weekend the bars on Pio Nono are probably a better bet, but for a mid-week drink this is well worth a visit. It is also a great restaurant during the day. It serves many local dishes and drinks, including great wines.

Basílica Santuario Nacional de Maipú (Templo Votivo)

Constructed on the orders of Chilean independence leader Bernardo O'Higgins, as he wanted to thank Virgin Mary for the final victory over the Spanish forces in the plains nearby. The best time to visit is the first Sunday after Easter when the Feast of Quasimodo takes place. The basilica complex also includes a museum dedicated to the first Chilean government including documents, clothing, paintings and vehicles.

Batuta

A good spot to see mainstream Chilean rock and metal bands, although it is expensive by Chilean standards.

Biblioteca Nacional de Chile

The national library was built in the early 20th century near Cerro Santa Lucía. Here you can find archives of all Chilean newspapers and some foreign ones, map and photo archives and an exhibition hall.

Black Rock Pub

An Australian-owned gastropub which offers a wide selection of domestic and international microbrews and cuisine. Watch sports on the multiple TVs inside or enjoy watching the day go by in the tree-shaded terrace. Happy Hour until 22:00 everyday.

Casa Colorada

This colonial building functioned as the seat of the first Chilean leader after independence. It was closed for 14 years due to earthquake damage but has opened once again in 2024. It holds a museum of Santiago's history.

Cementerio General de Santiago

About two million Chileans rest in peace at the country's largest and oldest cemetery, including many important historical figures like Manuel Rodriguez, Violeta Parra, Andres Bello, Maria Luisa Bombal and most presidents of Chile. It's also an open air museum of burial mausoleums in Egyptian, Greek, Gothic, Moorish and almost any other thinkable styles.

Central Market

As with La Vega, fruit and vegetables are sold, but the attraction here is the fish and seafood brought in fresh daily from the Pacific to be sold under an elaborate wrought-iron roof.

Centro Artesanal Los Dominicos

Designed to resemble a traditional Chilean town, its narrow dirt streets and adobe houses with thatched roofs host workshops where artisans create and sell their crafts directly to visitors. The center features cultural events, live performances, and local cuisine. It also houses the Las Condes Wax Museum. Declared a National Monument in 1983, the site preserves the colonial history of the area.

Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM)

An impressive cultural center built on the former military Diego Portales building which was destroyed in a fire. The center has an art and film focused library with free WiFi, a theater, concert halls, a restaurant, a café, and public spaces for resting.

Centro Cultural Matucana 100

Inaugurated in 2002, Matucana 100 is an excellent exhibition venue for a variety of arts.

Cerro Santa Lucia

A park with fountains and stairs leading up to a fort and viewpoint the top. The summit has a great view of all but the skyscraper-obscured city center. Charles Darwin visited this peak at one point in his travels; his words are immortalized in a plaque at the summit.

Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art

Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino

The well put-together Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art houses various artefacts from Mesoamerica and South America, featuring cultures such as the Olmec, Maya, and Inca civilizations. Descriptions of the artefacts and the ancients' way of life are well-written in both English and Spanish. Highlights include a Mayan stone stele and Andean mummies, which precede their Egyptian counterparts.

Founded in 1924, this mountaineering organization offers trekking, bouldering, and climbing excursions and workshops.

Club de Jazz de Santiago

The Club de Jazz de Santiago is one of the best of the city's many jazz clubs. Located in the northern part of the Ñuñoa neighborhood, this small club routinely brings in some of the best local, national, and international artists specializing in everything from Latin Jazz to Blues to Bossa Nova.

The central post building has a museum of old stamps, letters and mailboxes and even a small replica of the first central post office.
