Timeline

  1. 17:06

    Mungyeong Saejae Brewery

Start at Mungyeong Saejae Brewery. Grab a glass of the local Mungyeong Saejae Makgeolli or an omija-based liquor. The brewery is small and quiet, giving you a chance to taste the spring water and local grains before the main hike.

  2. 17:26

    Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park

Walk from the brewery to the Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park entrance. Enter the park and follow the gentle 6.5 km trail through the forest. You will pass the well-preserved stone gates and traditional inn replicas that once served travelers on the route between Seoul and Yeongnam.

  3. 17:56

    Gwaneumsa Temple

Detour slightly to Gwaneumsa Temple. This peaceful Silla Dynasty Buddhist temple is dedicated to Avalokiteśvara. It offers a quiet, shaded spot to rest your legs and reflect on the history of the pass before the sun dips below the horizon.

  4. 18:11

    Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park

Return to the main trail area within the park. Find a spot along the path with a western view to watch the sunset. The golden light from 17:16 will fade into the sunset at 17:51, casting long shadows through the trees as the day ends.
