Timeline

  1. 09:00

    Gwaneumsa Temple

Arrive at Gwaneumsa Temple as it opens. The stone pagoda and valley views are best enjoyed in the cool morning air before the day’s heat sets in. Spend about 45 minutes walking the trails and taking in the peaceful atmosphere.

  2. 09:50

    Mungyeong Saejae Brewery

Walk 11 minutes to Mungyeong Saejae Brewery. It is open from 09:00 to 18:00. Stop here for a taste of their traditional Mungyeong Saejae Makgeolli, a sweet rice wine made with local omija berries. It is a perfect mid-morning break.

  3. 10:20

    Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park

Walk 11 minutes ESE to Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park. Stand at the pass and look WNW toward the temple you just left. This historic route was the main artery between Seoul and Yeongnam, and the wide valley below gives a sense of its scale.

Local tip

The brewery is closed on Mondays. If you are visiting on a Monday, skip the brewery step and extend your time at the temple or the park.
