Torcuato de Alvear

Torcuato de Alvear y Saenz de la Quintanilla (12 April 1822 – 8 December 1890) was an Argentine conservative politician. He was the son of soldier and statesman Carlos María de Alvear and father of Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear, president of Argentina from 1922 to 1928. He was also a Freemason.

Carlos María de Alvear
Carlos María de Alvear (25 October 1789 – 3 November 1852) was an Argentine soldier, statesman and diplomat who served as the second Supreme Director of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata from 9 January to 15 April 1815. He played a leading role in the capitulation of royalist-held Montevideo in June 1814 and later commanded the republican army in the Cisplatine War, winning the Battle of Ituzaingó (20 February 1827).

Juan Facundo Quiroga (27 November 1788 – 16 February 1835) was an Argentine politician, military officer, governor, and caudillo. He was an important federal supporter during the Argentine Civil Wars, after his brief participation in the Argentine War of Independence. In his province, La Rioja, Quiroga is seen as a hero due to his efforts to give more autonomy to La Rioja.
