Gradska Tržnica

Market hall opened in 1895 and home to local meat, cheese and vegetable merchants: walnuts are a speciality. The market was bombed with great loss of life in February 1994 and again in August 1995. The first attack was a single mortar, and responsibility was disputed. The second was five rounds undeniably from Bosnian-Serb positions, and precipitated NATO military intervention in the conflict.
