Operating since 2000, this fiercely independent, privately owned bookshop is a sanctuary for local readers. Helmed by a former early childhood educator, the store places a massive specialty focus on children's literature, young adult fiction, and unique dyslexia-friendly titles. The Big Powerful Owl
Belconnen Owl
An imposing eight-metre-tall concrete and fiberglass sculpture created by renowned artist Bruce Armstrong in 2011 and one of Australia's many big things. Officially representing the endangered Powerful Owl native to southeastern Australia, this quirky monument is proudly claimed as one of Australia’s iconic 'Big Things'. The statue has earned immense local notoriety and a cult status due to its highly controversial abstract anatomy, with the rear shape of the owl bearing a comical, undeniable resemblance to male genitalia, making it a popular, highly tongue-in-cheek photo opportunity for travellers.

Operating since 1996. A long-running, locally owned indoor laser tag facility featuring a classic multi-level maze labyrinth equipped with haze machines, blacklights, and custom neon obstacles. Games run on a rolling 20-minute rotation block and are open to anyone aged six and over. The venue also contains a retro video arcade floor and a guest refreshment kiosk.
