Golden Hour at the Belvedere

A short, atmospheric walk through Vienna’s art district timed for the late afternoon light.

Best time: 15 OctAbout 90 min

Timeline

  1. 17:05

    Salm Bräu

Start with a local beer and a light bite at the brewery. The Viennese kitchen is open, and the atmosphere is relaxed before the evening rush.

  2. 17:35

    Botanischer Garten

Walk up to the Botanischer Garten. It is only a five-minute stroll from the brewery. Take a moment to look at the rare plants in the quiet garden space established by Empress Maria Theresia.

  3. 18:05

    Österreichische Galerie Belvedere

Head to the Upper Belvedere (Oberes Belvedere) for the sunset. The Belvedere is open until 18:00, which aligns perfectly with the 18:05 sunset on this date. Stand in the gardens or the upper terrace to watch the sun set toward the WSW.

  4. 18:50

    Österreichische Galerie Belvedere

Stay inside the museum to view the permanent collection. The golden light fading outside contrasts with the indoor masterpieces by Klimt, Kokoschka, and Schiele. The museum remains open for an hour after sunset, allowing you to finish your visit in calm light.
