Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood Pub

Upstairs is a funky little coffee house with lots of comfy seating, downstairs is a friendly pub, popular with a lot of local sports teams. There is a patio adjoining, with heat lamps for those cooler evenings. Friday nights are almost always packed.

Celebrities Nightclub

One of Vancouver's largest clubs with varied music (DJs, house, 80s) depending on the night. Stereotype Fridays are very popular and sometimes feature international DJs. Generally a gay bar, but the crowd tends to be more mixed on Tu and F Sa.

Commodore Ballroom

This is a large venue frequent location for live concerts. Has a large famous 'sprung' dance floor. Capacity is 900 people. On most nights, tickets are required to get in.

Darby's Pub

A local favourite, Darby’s is one of Kitsilano’s oldest neighbourhood pubs and has the best rooftop patio in the neighbourhood. Featuring live entertainment, comedy & karaoke nights, UFC, all broadcast & PPV Canucks games. With a classic pub menu focusing on quality.

Granville Island Brewing Company

Visit this local brewery and sample their brews in their taproom. Taster sleeves and full pints of this locally brewed beer.

Creative and artsy sort of bar. Features some unique beers on tap and a selection of board games; order cheese from the bar and play some giant Jenga. Often features indie rock performances.

Lamplighter

One part sports bar and one part club gives this bar a dual personality which works for some and not for others. The crowd is a more mixed and mellow than Shine or Fabric.

Odd Society Spirits

Microdistillery with their own cocktails. They offer a tasting with a sample of each of their different liquors as well as small tours.

Microbrewery with a large number of beers and some snacks. They've begun offering pint cans of some of their beers and offer growler fills.

St. Augustine's Pub

A pub that takes its beer seriously. The two page beer menu features craft beers from across Canada and U.S. and there are live reports on how full each keg is. The food choices are pretty standard for a pub — burgers, sandwiches, pizza and finger foods — but it's well done. There are also a number of TVs for catching the game.

Storm Brewing

Oldest microbrewery in Vancouver. They don't offer flights, but will give you tastings of anything one at a time for free (small donation suggested).

Offers an array of microbrews with an emphasis on British Columbia breweries, as well as a diverse food menu.

The Black Frog

Smallish pub with some character. Good spot for pre-activity drinks or if you want somewhere not as loud. Also has a small but well prepared selection of burgers, sandwiches and fish and chips that are an excellent value.

The Blarney Stone

Bit of an Irish bar, bit of a dance club. Attracts a 20-something crowd most nights. Irish showband Killarney are a regular feature.

The Cambie

Frontier-looking unpretentious bar with well-worn wooden benches and tables. Popular with the younger crowd and the nearby backpackers hostel. Lots of rock music and no dance floor. Pitchers are amongst the cheapest in Vancouver.

The Gallery Lounge

A smallish student-run pub, the Gallery is usually quieter than the Pit, and is a good place to go to grab a pint after class - and closer than Koerner's. Karaoke nights on Tuesday are a hoot, also open mic nights on Mondays and DJ nights on Fridays.

The London Public House

Imported & craft beers, pub food, but it's not a great place to walk at night, as that section is not far removed from the worst areas of the Eastside.

The Mill

Serves a variety of finger food, burgers, pizzas and salads with Guinness and some local brews on tap. It's a bit overpriced, but the patio (on the park looking at the harbour) is hard to beat.

The Pit

A bar with a dance floor, run by the student society and famously first proposed by David Suzuki. Student ID required for Wednesday "Pit Nights" which are always packed. Inexpensive pub food served in the Burger Bar.

The Railway Stage & Beer Cafe

Popular bar that frequently features live music. The crowd is a mix of ages, although probably more over 30. It's not a big place, so it gets packed easily. There are more tables at the other end of the long bar if you want to sit down and talk.

The Roxy

Long-time Vancouver club which features top 40 rock. The house band, Loaded/Fully Loaded, covers some of the best of the recent pop and rock M-Sa, with country music on Sunday.
