Timeline
15:42
Grab a Belgian beer and mussels at Chambar. The lunch menu is smaller, so you can sit down before the afternoon rush. Check the hours to ensure you are within the Mon–Fri 8AM–3PM window or plan for an early dinner if it is the weekend.
16:27
Walk NNW from BC Place to Digital Orca. This 24-minute stroll takes you along the waterfront. Arrive just before golden light starts to secure a good spot facing the sculpture. The sun sets toward the WSW, meaning the light will hit the sculpture from the side as it approaches the horizon.
17:42
Watch the sunset. At 17:42 the sun dips below the horizon, casting the final golden glow on the aluminium orca. Stay for the transition into twilight.
18:12
Walk back toward the city center to Guilt and Company. It is a creative bar with board games and unique beers. If it is Tuesday through Thursday, you can stay until 01:00. On Friday or Saturday, the hours extend to 02:00. Sunday it closes earlier at 24:00.
Local tip
The walk from BC Place to Digital Orca is pleasant but exposed to the wind. Dress warmly for January evenings. If you prefer to shop before the sunset, Pacific Centre is open until 19:00 on weekdays and 20:00 on Saturdays.
