   A great place to camp or have a picnic, with 9 unpowered sites (suitable for tents or camper-trailers), flush toilets, picnic tables, free gas/electric barbecues, wood barbecues (bring your own wood, do not gather wood), hot showers. Access point for the Euglah Rock Walking Track.

   CSIRO Australia Telescope

   Paul Wild Observatory

   6 radio telescope antennas mounted on tracks. Interactive displays, theatrette. Visitors are advised to switch off (and not just put on silent) mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and radio transmitters/receivers as they will interfere with the telescope array.

   Dawsons Spring Campground

   Mount Kaputar National Park

   Campground with 15 unpowered sites suitable for tents and camper-trailers, flush toilets, free gas/electric barbecues, wood barbecues and fire pits (bring your own firewood, do not gather wood), hot showers. Access point for the Bundabulla Circuit Walking Track, the Dawsons Spring Nature Trail, and the Mount Kaputar Summit Walk. Be careful when camping under trees, and do not remain when high winds are forecast.

   Deriah Aboriginal Information Bay

   Deriah Aboriginal Area

   This wheelchair-accessible information bay highlights with interpretive signs the historical, cultural, and natural significances of the district. Continue driving another 2.2 km to the Wagun Picnic Area and a further 200 m from the picnic area to the Biruu Gaba Lookout Walking Track.

   Doug Sky Lookout

   Mount Kaputar National Park

   Scenic views over north-west New South Wales, the foothills of the Nandewar Ranges, and the Warrumbungle Mountains - bring your binoculars and cameras. Wheel-chair accessible with assistance to lookout but no disabled parking. Bring warm and waterproof clothing as the weather can be unpredictable. Parking but no picnic tables or toilets.

   Governor Lookout Walking Track - car park

   Mount Kaputar National Park

   A short walk with great views over the Nandewar and Grattai wildernesses and of The Governor Rock formation, with birdwatching opportunities - bring binoculars and cameras. Car park has 1 disabled-access spot, but no picnic tables or toilets. Track is 450 m return (15-30 min), Grade 2, formed, no steps, wheelchair accessible. Access to the Governor Summit (Corrunbral Borawah) Walking Track] where you might see skilled rock climbers take on The Governor.

   Mount Kaputar National Park

   Car parking and picnic tables, no barbecues, no toilets. Bring your own drinking water. Despite its name, no camping. Access to the Yulludunida Walking Track - bring binoculars and cameras.

   Mount Coryah Walking Track - car park

   Mount Kaputar National Park

   This track offers views of Eulah Rock and birdwatching opportunities, but takes some effort. The track is a 2 km loop (1-2 hours), Grade 4, very steep, many steps, fitness required. This loop is a steep climb up with ridges, terraces, and clifftops. The track is very narrow at the cliff top and can be slippery when wet - in that case it is best to not continue the loop but backtrack the way you came - see website for details.

   Mount Kaputar Summit Lookout

   Mount Kaputar National Park

   Enjoy 360-degree views from the summit of Mount Kaputar, and bring your binoculars and cameras. Short steep section to the top on a wooden staircase. Picnic table at the carpark, but no toilets. 4-wheel-drive access in wet weather, 2-wheel-drive vehicle at other times. Bring warm and waterproof clothes as the weather is unpredictable. A good spot for birdwatching. Walkers can descend to Dawsons Spring via the Mount Kaputar Summit Walk.

    Narrabri Fish Farm

    This fish farm breeds Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Silver Perch, Eel-tailed Catfish, and yabbies (small freshwater crayfish), Visitors are welcome to take self guided tours of the facilities. Barbecue and picnic amenities, and an opportunity for visitors to try to catch yabbies themselves.

    Narrabri Lake

    This reclaimed swamp has become a recrerational playground for swimmers, canoeists, kayakers, and windsurfers, and there is 3km walking/jogging/cycling track around the lake. Playground and barbecue facilities. A good spot for birdwatching, especially for spotting swans.

    Old Gaol and Heritage Museum

    This building was built in 1882 and operated as a gaol/jail until 1982, and began operating as a museum in 1988, and is also a family research centre. See the Dalway Collection. If mobile is not answering phone the Narrabri Visitors Information Centre.

    Pilliga Hot Artesian Bore Baths

    Artesian bore baths. Camping possible but with limited facilities - booking is essential, see website for details or phone. The Pilliga Hotel and the Pilliga Cafe are nearby.

    Open all year round, but closed Fri 9-11AM for cleaning

    Railway Hotel - Baan Baa

    A typical bush pub built 1922. Counter lunches and dinners available M-Su. Accommodation available - phone or email for rates and availability. A good place to break the trip between Narrabri and Gunnedah.

    Sandstone Caves Walking Track - car park

    Pilliga National Park

    Visitors can take a self-guided tour to see ancient Aboriginal rock art.. Guided tours available - book through the Pilliga Forest Discovery Centre at Barandine (phone number and email address above). Track is a 1.7 km loop (60 - 90 min), Grade 3.

    Sawn Rocks - car park

    Mount Kaputar National Park

    This trail leads to an unusual rock formation resembling organ pipes. Car park has no amenities. Track is 1.5 km return (15-45 min), Grade 2, wheelchair accessible with some assistance, flat with no steps, formed, signposted.

    A picnic area with scenic views and birdwatching opportunities - bring binoculars. Wood barbecue (bring your own firewood, do not gather wood) and picnic tables, but no toilets or drinking/cooking water, so bring your own. Plenty of outdoor space for ball games, and a nearby stream for paddling. Bring warm and weatherproof clothing as the weather can be unpredictable.

    Yarrie Lake

    Birdwatching, water sports, yabbying (crayfish fishing), camping, powered sites, hot showers, toilets, laundry facilities, on-site drinking water. Licences are required for boating and skiing - phone the caretaker. Pets are not permitted.
