Olympia-Einkaufszentrum

OEZ

This large shopping complex was built in 1972 for the Olympics and expanded in the 1990s. It has a variety of department stores (including another Galeria Kaufhof), boutiques and food stores. There are parking lots north and south side. In 2016 a mall shooting killed nine people plus the perpetrator.

Optimal Records

Shops for vinyl records are everywhere disappearing but Optimal record store, founded in 1982, is still going. These are new records, they don't run an exchange, and they also stock CDs, mags, books and wine. So that's your nostalgic weekend sorted. The stock is mostly techno, house and electro vinyl, and famous names from the vinyl era are occasionally seen here.

A three-storey shopping mall in Nordheide district opened in 2008. It's a bright modern structure winning awards for this 'n that, but a third of its 70 stores lie empty.

Daller Tracht

This large store is the place to get gussied up in traditional Bavarian outfits - they stock men's stuff such as Lederhosn and trad dresses (Dirndl). The range is from economical to top-notch.

A legendary delicatessen store with market and bakery. Its eat-in choices are the cafe-bistro, bar-grill, and restaurant.

M2 Music 2nd Hand

One of Munich's oldest second-hand record stores with a huge selection of vinyl and CDs of all genres. Pricey but good quality.

MJ Guitars

Well-stocked shop for new and second-hand guitar purchase and repair, helpful knowledgeable staff speak good English. It was founded by the lead guitarist of the hard rock band Scorpions, Matthias Jabs.

Munich Readery

This is the largest English-language book shop in Germany. Mostly second hand but they also stock new titles.

Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory

Offers beautifully handcrafted and very pricey porcelain. The factory was founded in the early 1700s to create porcelain for the Royal family. You can look around for as long as they think you might buy something, otherwise they might tactfully but firmly redirect you to the porcelain museum within the palace.

Oberpollinger

This luxury department store was built in 1905 and became a Munich landmark with its three-gable facade. All the pricey top brands are here, look elsewhere for bargains. There's a 5th floor self-service restaurant, with the rooftop terrace open in the warmer months.
