Timeline
15:17
Pick up a drink at Wirtshaus in der Au. This traditional restaurant in the Au district is open early enough for a pre-sunset aperitif and is just a short walk from the museum.
16:07
Walk to the Deutsches Museum viewpoint. The building sits on an island in the Isar river. Head to the upper levels or the bridge access to find a clear view of the sky. The sun sets toward the WSW, offering a direct line of sight from this vantage point.
17:47
End the evening at Blitz Club. Located in the former historic congress hall of the museum itself, this techno club is just a few minutes walk away. It is one of Munich’s main venues for international DJs and stays open late.
Local tip
The Deutsches Museum closes at 17:00, so you will not be able to enter the galleries for sunset. Use the exterior viewpoints and bridges instead. Blitz Club opens at 23:00, so arrive with enough time to get in before the main sets start.
