Timeline
17:00
Walk to Kalan Masjid. Stand in the courtyard and watch the late afternoon sun lengthen the shadows on the old walls. The sun sets toward the WSW, so the light will fade quickly from the front facade.
18:00
Head to Karim's for dinner. It is located just down a little alley south of the Jama Masjid southern entrance, a short walk from the mosque. Order Mughal-style meat; the original spot is affordable, though branches cost more.
18:35
End the night with chai at Aap ki Pasand. Located in an old colonial-era building, this tea shop is a calm place to sip Darjeeling or Assam tea after the dinner rush.
Local tip
Kalan Masjid is one of seven mosques built by Khan-i-Jahan Tilangani. The area is busy in the evening, so keep an eye on your belongings when moving between sites.
