Also, there seems to be bathrobes available for rent--ask at the reception. For changing clothes, only lockers are available, without attendant--you have a key. There's no cabins (as families typically live in the same hotel). Every shower cabin have a curtain, and there's some liquid soap available. Visitors mix: Almost no locals; in New Year season (and 1-9 of May?) about 80% are Russians who are also residents of the hotel.

   One-storey Baroque building. An arcaded corridor runs along the courtyard side, and the upstairs rooms are decorated with frescoes in good condition. In 1760 it became the property of the de la Motte family, who expanded it and made it a Baroque palace. At that time, the arcaded corridor of the courtyard side also be made. The de la Motte family could not enjoy the ornate little palace for long because they sold it. In 1773, the new owner became József Kajetán, a pharmacist.     Parade Square is a north to south elongated area, bordered by one- and two-storey hundred years old houses. Major houses of the square: Dísz tér 3: The two-storey building which the back facade oriented towards the Danube, the main facade facing on the square. In 1748, builder Marton Siegl erected a new two-story Baroque palace for Palatine Batthyány Lajos. After the World War II it was restored in its 18th century shape with a Baroque facade Above the balcony the Batthyány family coat of arms can be seen. Dísz tér 4-5: since 1686 Baroque buildings were erected. From this period have survived only in the downstairs rooms. In 1908 it was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style. In 1930s, the Papal Nunciature home. After the World War II damage, it was restored with a new, uncharacteristic facade. Dísz tér 9: two-storey Romantic house built in 1869. Ferenc Móra lived here, who was a Hungarian novelist, journalist, and museologist. Dísz tér 10: one-storey Baroque house built around 1760. Dísz tér 11: one-storey building with Classicist facade and Neo Baroque door with decorated window framing. Dísz tér 12: medieval house.     While the Kiraly baths may be a more authentic Turkish bath experience, the famous Gellért Bath can't be beaten in terms of style. This is among the finest Art Nouveau baths in Europe, part of Spa Hotel Gellért. Ask the information desk to clarify if you're not sure about how to proceed as the procedures, dignified by tradition, are not always straightforward. If you hire a towel (resembling a bedsheet) or a bathrobe, you will need the original receipt ticket for getting back your deposit. You'll need to get your receipt ticket back from the attendants inside when you return your item, otherwise you forfeit your deposit. Unfortunately, the managers are quite unforgiving in this matter and won't believe you if you try to collect your deposit without your item or a receipt. Changing: Individual lockers, single-person cabins, and family cabins are available. Indoors: since 2013 every part of the spa is common for men and women. Common area for men and women has a 50 m swimming pool and a soaking pool with massage bubbles, both with 36-38°C water. Wearing swimming caps is required, but not always enforced. There are common Turkish-style thermal baths for men and women, offering several different areas: two soaking pools (one with 36°C, another with 38°C), the showers, the dry sauna and Turkish steam bath, and the cold pool (designed to scare the living daylights out of you aftea happy warm soak). Outdoors: a large open-air complex of pools (open only in summer time).

    Gellért Hill was named after Saint Gerard who was thrown to death from the hill. Sights around the hill include: Hotel Gellért and the Gellért Baths (located in Gellért Square at the foot of the hill, next to Liberty Bridge); the Gellért Hill Cave in the hill, facing toward Hotel Gellért and the Danube River); the Citadella (Citadel, at the top of the hill) a perfect viewpoint, Gellért Hill Waterfall (on northest), Rock Chapel (southern descent). Since 1987, the area is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of "the Banks of the Danube". A large part of the hill consists of protected parkland, therefore part of the Danube-Ipoly National Park. There are some sculptures as Statue of Liberty; Statue of Stephen I of Hungary (outside Gellért Hill Cave). About the vegetation: there can be found different trees -- English oak, Tatarian Maple (mostly on West side of the Hill), Field Elm, Field Maple, South European flowering ash, dolomite-rock grassland, fig and wild rose bushes (remnants of the Ottoman era), yew tree, thuja, some cypress, hazel, hornbeam and acacia. The fauna: different types of birds: dawn bird, peregrine falcon, goldcrests mostly in migration time; different crows, blackbirds and sparrows can be seen anytime; Typical insects are: different butterflies, firebugs, Blue Xylocopinae. In spring and summer come out to sunny rocks the lizards. Some mammals like the Northern white-breasted hedgehog and squirrels are also quite common sights. The mountain provides an opportunity for the visitors pleasant forest walks. There is a flower garden on the top of the hill, where one can rest on benches - a nice relaxing place.     Designed by Adolf Láng, and founded by the Rákosi-Beöthy family was built in 1897 in the then-suburban Izabella (today Hevesi Sándor) square. The premiere was on 16 October 1897. The two-storied auditorium had 996 seats. In 1914, the theater was rebuilt by architect Laszlo Editor, at time a new hall was built. The last big remodelling happened in 1964-66, when it was rebuilt according to the plans of architect Alexander Azbej. The new building was built Žilina's (Slovakia) pyrogranite. The facades are decorated with a relief consisting of 757 elements which is Gyula Illes sculptor's work. In the foyer is located a large mosaic image, its showing a woman Greek chorus. There is the House of the Future exhibition hall (Jövő Háza kiállítás) with themes as genome research, spacecraft (include the Hungarian Mars rover), astronomy or the lives of people with disabilities durable presentation 'Ability Park'. Located in the Great Hall (Building B), this is a huge multi-level building. The Pixel Gallery (Building C) has a similar spiral arrangement as the New York's Guggenheim Museum, used for media arts and visual art exhibitions.     Not to be confused with the Hungarian National Gallery (Nemzeti Galéria), located in Buda Castle. Founded in 1802 by Count Ferenc Széchenyi, whose manuscript, map, numismatic and print collections formed its initial core holdings, the Hungarian National Museum was designed and built by the popular architect Mihály Polláck between 1837-1847. When it opened, it was the fourth largest museum in Europe and the first public museum in the Hungarian capital. The building became the symbol of the 1848-1849 Revolution so every year on the National Day (March 15) usually commemoration held here. However, it was far enough from the city proper that sometimes loose cattle from the weekly Kálvin tér market wandered into the museum. Before entering, take note of the museum's exterior, a fine example of neoclassical architecture, with an exceptional portico. Eight Corinthian columns support a frieze with an ornamental cornice and a large pediment. The pediment features the allegorical figure of Pannonia (Pannonia was the Roman name for the Hungarian lands) sitting with the Hungarian coat of arms on her shield, surrounded on either side by Science and Art. The exterior of the museum is also significant for what has taken place there. According to a popular urban legend during the 1848 revolutions that swept through Central Europe, on 15 March, Sándor Petőfi (perhaps Hungary's most famous patriotic poet) recited his emotionally gripping poem called "National Song" to a large crowd from the left pillar of the National Museum's exterior staircase. This poem pleaded with the nation to liberate Hungary from the Habsburg oppression. Not everyone was impressed. The director of the museum recorded in his diary that a noisy mob had gathered outside the building that day, disturbing his work so much that he left for home.     The Hungarian National Parliament building is the largest in Europe, designed by architect Imre Steindl for the 1896 millennial celebrations, and built 1880-1902. It is based on England's Parliament building, and supposedly is one meter wider and longer than that building, just a little bit of architectural conceit. The building is so immense, the weak alluvial soil along the Danube had to be reinforced with a 2-m (7-foot) deep concrete foundation. Not surprising, as the building is 270 m long and 125 m wide, with 691 rooms and 20 km (12.5 miles) of corridors. The lacy white neo-Gothic froth covering the building is actually educational: 88 statues representing Hungarian rulers, princes and military commanders. These statues are small and cannot be readily distinguished from the ground, but they are there.

    Remains of the Dominican Monastery and Church

    King Imre (1196-1204) on the highest part of eastern side of the island mansion built in around 1200, it was a castle-like building, later a church was built next to the Royal manor house. Here started to build a monastery for Margaret Princess ordered by his father, King Bela IV. This monastery was one of the most important nun's convent of medieval Hungary. It was built between 1246 and 1255. The monastery almost three centuries long flourished. Used for Royal Cemetery here resting King Stephen V's wife, Elizabeth near to the tomb of King Stephen V. and Margaret (she was canonized seven hundred years later in 1944). Over next the two centuries, almost completely destroyed the peoples who lived here moved to Kőszeg. The layout of the complex followed by Cistercian form. The monastery stood on the south side, here was located the chapter room, the Dormitory, the refectory and the kitchen. West of the monastery was built the hospital and a chapel (made in the end of the 13th century), it was built for pilgrims. The guest house was the dwelling place to members of the royal family. Margaret's tomb was placed in the church sanctuary, in line of the triumphal arch and surrounded by walls. The tomb was built in 1271, Lombard sculptors made of red marble. In 1335 was the new white marble monument erected by an Italian sculptor. This was built behind the shrine, protecting from the pilgrims. A significant part of the monastery and its associated buildings are still undiscovered.

    Confectionery and cafe. This tiny coffeehouse is the oldest continually operating cafe in the city; probably one of the best pastry shops in Budapest. As a coffeehouse it dates to the 1820s, and its original furnishings are still intact. On a historical note, this location has sold sweets of some kind or another since the Middle Ages, when it was a gingerbread shop. The same family has been operating Ruszwurm since the early years of this century, and all the cakes are made on-premises.

    Built between 1803–1806 in Neoclassical style according to plans of Mihály Pollack and Johann Aman architects as the home of the Sándor family. In 1867, following the idea of Prime Minister Gyula Andrássy, the Hungarian state first rented it out, and in 1881 bought it permanently as a government residence. Between 1867 and 1945 (with minor interruptions) it served as the residence of the current Hungarian Prime Minister, and was also the site of several government meetings. It was almost completely destroyed in World War II, after that it was used as a museum warehouse for a long time. Its external image was only repaired in 1989–1990, and its complete (external, internal) restoration was carried out between 2000 and 2002. The interiors are original from 1806, and the furniture reflects the conditions between the two world wars. It has served as the official residence and workspace of the President of Hungary since 2003.
