The church is surmounted by a drum and high dome that was modelled on St. Paul's Cathedral in London. A unique design not found on other ecclesiastical buildings in Aberdeen.

The whimsical name given by locals to a line-up of three imposing and listed civic buildings on Rosemount Viaduct. In the order of the Central Library, St. Mark's Church of Scotland and His Majesty's Theatre.
