Tommy's Joynt

Open since 1947, Tommy's is a classic San Francisco eatery and bar, and one of the last hofbraus in the bay area. You can't miss this place — on both the inside and out it's colorful and quirkily decorated. They serve wholesome, filling food like "hand-carved" sandwiches, stews, and mash potatoes, and are particularly famous for their pastrami. Keep an eye out for the portrait of Emperor Norton on the wall adjacent to the bar, which serves a wide variety of brews from around the world.
