Jefferson Pier Stone

Jefferson Pier, Jefferson Stone, or the Jefferson Pier Stone, (PIE-er) is a stone in Washington, D.C. that marks the second prime meridian of the United States even though it was never officially recognized, either by presidential proclamation or by a resolution or act of Congress. It is located 391 ft (119 m) WNW of the center of the Washington Monument.

Washington Monument
No man looms larger over American history than the first president, and no monument looms larger over D.C. than this, both the world's tallest stone structure and its tallest obelisk. When completed in 1884 it was the world's tallest structure, and remains one of the tallest buildings in D.C. Viewed from either end of the Mall its size may not be evident, but enter the enormous square on which it stands, and you'll realize just how monumental it is. The view from the 555-foot top is great on a clear day, allowing you to see up and down the Mall, and out as far as the Shenandoah Valley. The observation level reopened in September 2019 and is open for viewing with a ticket. Entrance is by timed ticket, which are distributed on a first come first served basis starting at 8:30AM from a National Park Service booth on 15th St east of the monument or online, if booked months in advance.

German-American Friendship Garden
The German-American Friendship Garden on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. is a symbol of the positive and cooperative relations between the United States of America and the Federal Republic of Germany. Situated within the Washington Monument grounds on the historic axis between the Jefferson Pier and the White House (see White House meridian), the garden borders Constitution Avenue Northwest between 15th and 17th Streets Northwest, where an estimated seven million visitors pass each year. The garden features plants native to both Germany and the United States and provides seating and cooling fountains.

The National Sylvan Theater — often simply the Sylvan Theater — is a public sylvan theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument, National Mall, in Washington, D.C., USA. It is located within the northwest corner of the 15th Street and Independence Avenue intersection, about 450 feet (137 m) southeast of the Washington Monument. A wooden stage is set in a graded depression surrounded by a grove of trees. It appears as a natural amphitheater integral to the historic greensward of the monument grounds.
