Sanctuary of Atotonilco

Santuario de Jesús Nazareno de Atotonilco

Often called the “Sistine Chapel of Mexico,” the Sanctuary of Atotonilco is an 18th-century pilgrimage church famous for its dramatic, fresco-covered interiors. It's 12 km northwest of San Miguel de Allende on highway MEX-51, and there are minibuses (“El Santuario”) that run regularly from the city center.
