Australian Defence Force Academy
ADFA
While the grounds of ADFA are open to the public they are of little interest to travellers. There's an excellent collection of books on military history in the ADFA library, and the library also sometimes has small exhibitions of historic items on its upper level. If you happen to be around in the area on the last Saturday in August, the Academy's open day is worth checking out – it boasts interesting displays of current military hardware, including armoured vehicles and helicopters, and displays of military marching and infantry tactics by the cadets.

The Pedlar
This stylish, light-filled neighbourhood local is the perfect suburban escape. Outfitted with light wood details and a spacious, pet-friendly outdoor dining patio, it transitions seamlessly from a warm morning breakfast cafe into a sophisticated gastropub by evening. The bar serves an excellent, curated list of local Canberra wines, seasonal gin-infused cocktails, and crisp craft beers on tap.

Paranormal Wines
Located in the trendy inner suburb of Campbell, this acclaimed destination operates as a warehouse-chic hybrid bottle shop, wine bar, and casual eatery. The bright, high-ceilinged space overlooks a local park and features an exceptional collection of low-intervention, natural, orange, and biodynamic drops from local Canberra-region icons as well as funky international labels. Visitors can grab a bottle to go or pull up a stool to drink inside for a small corkage fee, paired beautifully with an upscale menu of house-made snacks like charcuterie, tinned fish, and fresh small plates.

Russell Offices
This large office complex houses the administrative headquarters of the Australian Defence Force and the Department of Defence. While none of its buildings are open to the public, visitors can walk around the area. The large Australian-American Memorial is the only sight of any interest, however.
