Torshov

Torshov is the neighbourhood North of Grünerløkka, uphill from ring road 2. The central parts of Torshov was a large housing project in the city of Oslo in the 1920s. As a residential area, Torshov has a characteristic monumental design with elements of baroque revival and neo-classical style. The layout was inspired by the English garden city movement and the area was basically greenfield in the 1920s. The Torshov bull in the octagonal Hegermann square is the symbol of the area.
