The Copenhagen Opera House (in Danish usually called Operaen, literally The opera) is the national opera house of Denmark, and among the most modern opera houses in the world. It is also one of the most expensive opera houses ever built at a cost of 2.5 billion DKK (c. 370,000,000 USD).

Opened in 2005 in a striking building overlooking the harbour, designed by world renowned architect Henning Larsen. Mainly hosts operas, but occasionally shows contemporary music concerts, and plays. For operas there are always 25 tickets reserved for selling on the day.
