The library is a national archive and does not lend books. However, the equally beautiful Stockholm Public Library, Stockholms stadsbibliotek (Vasastan), does. The treasure room in the basement contains the Codex Gigas and massive medieval bible taken as a spoil of war with a unique depiction of the devil.
