Cemetery at Perlach Forest

Friedhof am Perlacher Forst

This cemetery was opened in 1931 and has 27,000 marked graves plus a plot for "displaced persons", victims of Nazism. Unlikely bedfellows here are footballer Stephan Beckenbauer (1968–2015), members of the White Rose resistance group executed in 1943, and Polish soldiers of Holy Cross Brigade (Brygady Świętokrzyskiej), a right-wing faction who preferred fighting the Soviet Union and each other instead of the Third Reich.
