Our Lady of Balvanera

Built between 1799 and 1860 this is the parish that gives the original name to the district. Very popular among local people from all the city that comes to pray to San Expedito, Saint of impossible causes.

Plaza Miserere
One of the main plazas (squares) of Buenos Aires. The square's current design is from 1923. The mausoleum of Bernardino Rivadavia, the first Constitutional President of Argentina, was created by sculptor Rogelio Yrurtia and added in 1932, where his ashes remain despite his wish that they not stay in Argentina.

Congress Building
You can only visit by joining one of the tours which run regularly during the day. They are conducted in Spanish or English and take about an hour. You can book a spot online or just show up at the big door on the Hipolito Yrigoyen side of the building with your passport. The building is very impressive with the dome in the centre of the building 58 metres above the floor. All the main rooms have considerable significance for the people of Argentina and the guides do a great job explaining why, for example the room with presidential portraits only contains portraits of some of the presidents and why one room is named the Eva Peron room despite the fact that she wasn't a member of parliament.
