Cook's

On the scale of well-kept neighborhood secrets, Cook's ranks even higher than Buffalo Bar & Grill: it's a real honest-to-goodness corner watering hole, to the extent that you as a visitor might get some side-eye when you first arrive. Don't worry, though: the folks here are ultimately friendly, the drinks are dirt cheap, the ambience is cozy, and if you want real Old First Ward authenticity, you're hard-pressed to do better. Genesee beers are the specialty of the house, with all three staple varieties (regular, light, and cream ale) on tap. Darts, shuffleboard, and table bowling are on hand for a spot of fun.
