In keeping with the (in spite of everything) still blue-collar, salt-of-the-earth character of the surrounding neighborhood, the food menu at Resurgence's new Old First Ward taproom hews closely to familiar pub-grub standards. But in keeping with the spirit of the "new" Buffalo, it all comes with an upscale twist: witness, for example, the "RBC Burger", two Kindred Kreek beef patties topped with fried onion rings and slathered with Resurgence's own homemade "beer BBQ" sauce. But crowning the menu is a selection of wings that make up for with creativity what they lack in size: sauces include classic Buffalo-style, the "beer BBQ" sauce again, even a dill pickle wing with tzatziki! The execution is a little inconsistent, but feel free to take that with a grain of salt; they've only been open a month as of this writing.
