One of Chicago's famed "Polish cathedrals" that were built by Polish immigrants. Today, with the Polish community have moved further afield, the church no longer offers Polish masses, but instead offers masses in Latin and English. While most of its Latin masses use Gregorian chant, orchestral masses by the great composers such as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Fauré are sometimes performed for special occasions. Its annual performance of Mozart's Requiem for All Souls' Day (November 2) is especially popular, and attracts not only Catholics from other parishes, but also many non-Christians too.
