Best time: 15 OctoberAbout 90 min

Timeline

  1. 17:23

    Zunfthaus Zur Waag

Grab a pre-dinner drink or a light bite at Zunfthaus Zur Waag. It is an authentic high-end restaurant just nine minutes away. Arriving early ensures you can relax before the walk.

  2. 18:08

    Giacometti-Fresken

Walk to the Giacometti-Fresken. This is the entrance hall to a police station, open Wednesday through Friday from 14:00 to 17:00. Since the moment is sunset at 18:38, the hall will be closed for viewing. Instead, use this time to admire the facade and the famous frescoes from the outside, noting the stark contrast between the civic art and the police function.

  3. 18:38

    Kronenhalle

Head to the Kronenhalle for dinner. As the sun sets toward the WSW, the golden light of 18:38 is best enjoyed indoors here among original artwork by famous Swiss and European artists. The restaurant is open until midnight, allowing you to linger through the evening.

Local tip

The Giacometti-Fresken viewing is restricted to opening hours (We-Fr 14:00-17:00). For a sunset experience, view the exterior and move directly to the Kronenhalle for dinner.
