Walk to Yeli Island to find a quiet vantage point. This nature reserve is just a short walk from the Opera House and offers an unobstructed view of the east, where the sun will rise behind the island’s silhouette before clearing over the water.

Watch the sunrise over the Zhuhai Opera House. As the sun rises in the east, the white, shell-like structures catch the first golden light. This is the key moment. The sun sets toward the WSW, but for sunrise, look east toward Yeli Island to see the light build behind the shells.

Head to Deyuefang Seafood Restaurant for a late breakfast. By this time, the morning rush has settled. Enjoy a meal at this large, popular spot located on an impressive boat in Xiangzhou harbour, perfect for digesting the morning air.
Local tip
The Opera House is free to enter, but the best views are from the surrounding walkways and Yeli Island. Check the route from your accommodation to Yeli Island, as it is a 10-minute walk from the anchor.

- Sunrise times vary by season. On 15 January, sunrise is at 07:07. On 15 July, it is much earlier at 05:50. Plan your arrival accordingly.
