Timeline

  1. 06:48

    Prometeo

Walk to the Prometeo statue. It stands on a slight rise, offering a clear view of the horizon to the west. Arrive before the sun breaks so you can watch the sky shift from dark blue to gold.

  2. 07:33

    Prometeo

Watch the sunrise. The sun sets toward the WSW, so the Prometeo figure frames the dawn perfectly. Take a moment to appreciate the black repoussé metal against the brightening sky.

  3. 08:18

    Acropolis Café Y Restaurante

Head to Acropolis Café Y Restaurante for breakfast. It is a short walk from the statue. Founded in 1938, this spot used to host dignitaries and artists. Order a conventional breakfast and find a seat to digest the morning view.

  4. 09:03

Antigua Plaza de Toros San Pedro

Finish your morning with a stroll around the Antigua Plaza de Toros San Pedro. The former bull ring is now a luxury hotel. Walk the perimeter of the ring to see the architecture up close and imagine the history of the space.

Local tip

Acropolis Café opens at 08:00. If you arrive for sunrise on January 15th, you will have plenty of time to walk back before they open for the morning crowd.
