Timeline

  1. 11:00

    Sakhalin Regional Museum

Arrive at the Sakhalin Regional Museum when it opens at 11:00. This is the quietest time to see the exhibitions on Sakhalin’s natural features and the ethnographic collection. Don’t miss the outdoor exhibition with Japanese steles and old cannons.

  2. 12:00

    Stolovaya Sovyetskaya

Walk eight minutes to Stolovaya Sovyetskaya for a Soviet-era canteen lunch. The walls still feature original posters and era music. Note that it closes at 15:00 on weekdays, so you have time to eat before the afternoon.

  3. 12:30

    Gagarin Park

Stroll 13 minutes northeast to Gagarin Park. As the largest park in the far east, it is a beloved leisure center with athletic facilities and plenty of space to walk.

Local tip

The museum is closed on Tuesdays. On weekdays, the canteen closes early at 15:00, so plan your lunch before then.
