Catch the last light on the red-brick bell-tower before settling in for a classic Russian evening.

Best time: 15:03About 120 min

Timeline

  1. 14:48

    Restoran Tokio

Grab a quick bite at Restoran Tokio. The red sofas and big mirrors offer a warm start before the chill sets in.

  2. 15:03

Church of St. Nikita and church of the Intercession

Walk southwest across the river to the Church of St. Nikita. Stand back to frame the tall red-brick bell-tower against the fading afternoon sky. The Russian-style Intercession church sits beside it, completing the historic silhouette.

  3. 15:48

    Restoran Dinastiya

Head to Restoran Dinastiya for dinner. It is widely regarded as the best place in the city for value. Order the flambeed 'fiery soup' to warm up as the evening darkens.

  4. 16:33

    Kafe Zolotoye Kolzo

Finish the night at Kafe Zolotoye Kolzo. By now the bar component is dominant. Enjoy a drink in the colorful cafeteria setting as the city winds down.

Local tip

The walk from the restaurant to the churches is short, but the path crosses the river. Dress warmly in January as the light fades quickly.

Check before you go

  • Restoran Dinastiya is open until 23:00 on weekdays and until 24:00 on Friday and Saturday.
  • Kafe Zolotoye Kolzo closes at 22:00 on Sundays, so plan your evening drink earlier if visiting on a Sunday.
