Timeline
14:42
Pick up a sweet treat or a quick bite at Shambles.
15:32
Walk to The Kings Arms for a pint. The King in question is Richard III, and his house is right on the river bank, meaning one of its annual traditions is becoming part of the river, a fact which is cheerfully recorded on its flood level gauge on the wall.
16:12
Head to York Minster. The sun sets toward the SW, casting a warm glow on the Gothic facade.
16:57
End the night at The Micklegate. Good for a noisy couple of hours. If there's no live football with eager fans staring at the multitude of screens, then the music will be playing loud.
Local tip
The Priory is open later if you want to switch venues, but The Micklegate is closer for a final stop after the Minster.
