Head to Purawisata. This theme park sits just 11 minutes from the anchor and offers a clear view of the western horizon. As the sun sets toward the WSW, you will see the golden light fade over the city. It is a quiet spot to watch the moment without the crowds of the main palace entrance.

End the evening with a bowl of noodles at Tjemara Noodle Bar. It is open until 21:45, making it a perfect late dinner option after the sunset. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is located near the park area, so you can walk there easily.
Local tip
The Kraton closes its inner Residence at 13:00, so do not plan to enter the Residence for a sunset view. Stick to the Main Court and the nearby parks for the best experience. Haggle at the nearby markets if you buy souvenirs, but avoid the 'batik workshop' scams offered by strangers.
