Timeline
17:00
Grab a late lunch at Dolmama. The fusion Armenian-World cuisine is excellent, and the outdoor seating lets you experience the old courtyards that filled central Yerevan in the past. It is open until 23:30, so you will have plenty of time before the key moment.
17:45
St Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral
Walk to St Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral. As you approach, notice how the building is a megalomaniacal exaggeration of traditional Armenian Church Architecture. Unlike all other churches in Yerevan, this one is full of light. Arrive just before the sun sets to see the golden hour glow fill the interior.
18:30
Stroll over to Circular park, a short walk away. Despite its name, the park is semi-circular and features several monuments to important Armenian and Russian imperial figures. It is a quiet spot to decompress after the cathedral.
Local tip
Dolmama is open Mo-Su 11:00-23:30. The cathedral has no set opening hours listed, but the light is best around sunset. Circular park is accessible during daylight hours.
