Timeline

  1. 06:07

    Theingottara Park

Arrive at Theingottara Park, a short walk from People's Park, to settle in before the main event. The park is quiet this early, offering a calm start to your morning.

  2. 06:27

    People's Park

Walk into People's Park. The wide concrete fountain and the surrounding square are still in shadow. Find a spot near the edge facing west, where the concrete water fountain stands against the darkening sky. The park opens at 07:00, so you will arrive just before opening, but the exterior approach is accessible.

  3. 06:37

    People's Park

Watch the sunrise. At 06:37, the sun breaks over the horizon, casting a warm glow on the decrepit statues and relics that line the park. The golden light begins to spread across the Stalinist-style squares by 17:20, but the initial sunrise moment is the key highlight.

  4. 07:07

    Akkhaya Tea House

After the sunrise, head to Akkhaya Tea House for breakfast or coffee. It is only a 10-minute walk from the park. Open from 06:00, it is ready to serve you as soon as you are done with your morning walk. Enjoy local tea and pastries while the city wakes up.

  5. 07:37

    People's Park

Return to People's Park to explore the museum and the interior grounds now that it is fully open. The morning light reveals the details of the aircraft and ship relics scattered around the sterile squares.

Local tip

The park opens at 07:00. Arrive before then to be inside for the sunrise. Wear comfortable shoes for the walk between the park and the tea house.
