Walk up to Green Hill Park and find a spot on the hill. At 480 acres, it is so large you may forget you are in the middle of a city. Make sure to look west toward the WSW where the sun is setting.
16:39
Watch the sun dip below the horizon. The golden light starts about 43 minutes before this moment, so you have been enjoying the warm glow for a bit. Stay for the final colors.
17:09
Head back toward the city center. Stop at Fuel America - Grove Street for a coffee or tea to warm up as the temperature drops after sunset. It is a short walk from the park area if you head west.
17:39
Finish your drink at Fuel America - Grove Street. It closes at 18:00, so this is a good place to pause before the evening gets fully underway.
17:54
Walk to Oak Barrel Tavern for dinner. It is a local favorite for a reason, and it is open late enough for an evening meal. The walk is short from the downtown area.
18:39
End the night at Ralph's Chadwick Square Diner. This legendary rock nightclub is open until 02:00. Look for the big neon 'Ralph's' sign on the unpaved drive behind an old factory building north of downtown. You can grab a bite in the diner car inside.
Local tip
Green Hill Park is huge. If you want a quicker view, Institute Park is much closer to the center, but Green Hill offers the most expansive space to stretch your legs after the walk back.
