Grab a pint at the brewpub. The daily mug special is a reliable way to start the evening without waiting for a table.
18:07
Walk over to the riverfront area and find a spot near the tapas place. The ambience is best as the light fades, and the wine selection pairs well with the view.
18:37
Stand on the deck of the Battleship North Carolina. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting long shadows across the water and the ship’s steel hull. The self-guided tour markers are well laid out, so you can linger at the railing.
19:07
End the night at the sports bar that served as a set for Dawson's Creek. It is a popular spot for friends to unwind after the sunset, with a menu of pub sandwiches and nachos.
Local tip
Ticket sales for the battleship end one hour before closing, so do not wait until the last minute if you plan to go inside. The viewing experience is best from the exterior decks as the sun goes down.
Check before you go
- The battleship closes at 5PM in autumn and spring. In summer it stays open until 8PM. Check the season before you go.
- Elijah's oyster bar is open all day, but the main dining room closes from 3PM to 5PM.
