Timeline
10:00
Walk to Blues Alley to soak in the atmosphere. Even if you do not catch a set, the brick building off Wisconsin is a striking piece of Georgetown history and a perfect starting point for a morning stroll.
10:08
Pick up a warm pastry or coffee at Dog Tag Bakery. The shop hires and supports veterans, and the welcoming, patriotic ambiance makes it a great place to fuel up before heading out.
10:15
Stop at Baked & Wired for a cupcake and pour-over coffee. The shop eschews the local coffee supply mafia for a rotation of interesting roasters, and their huge cupcakes are worth the visit.
10:45
Sit down for lunch at Sequoia. This is the place to be seen in Georgetown. Order outdoor seating if the weather permits, as the spectacular views of the Potomac and the Kennedy Center are the main draw.
Local tip
Sequoia is popular with the Georgetown elite, so expect a lively scene. If you want a quieter alternative with a terrace, Chez Billy Sud is also open and nearby.
