Timeline
17:44
Grab a bite and a drink at Cozy. The laid-back upstairs restaurant serves hearty modern food, or you can head downstairs to the DJ-bar for a lighter option. It is open late, so you have plenty of time before the sunset.
17:59
Walk up the cobbled lane to the courtyard of Gediminas Castle. Enter free to get your bearings and enjoy the initial views of the city and the Three Crosses on the hill to the east. The tower ticket is only needed if you want to go up, but the courtyard offers the necessary vantage point preparation.
18:14
Walk the 6-minute path from the castle to Three Crosses Hill. Find a spot near the monument to the Franciscan friars. Look west toward the castle. On the specified dates, the sun will set directly behind the castle tower, creating a striking silhouette against the fading light.
18:49
Head to Sakwa, a café in a retro-styled two-storey building, for a post-sunset wind-down. Enjoy Lithuanian, Polish, or European cuisine in a cozy atmosphere as the evening sets in.
Local tip
The alignment is specific to mid-March and mid-September. Check the exact sunset time for your day, as it shifts slightly. The walk from the castle to the hill is short and steep, so allow time for the climb.
Check before you go
