Grab a drink and settle into the courtyard at Artistai. The large courtyard is a great place to relax and watch the sky change. The friendly service and live music provide a calm start before the main event.

Walk the six minutes from the pub to the Gate of Dawn. This is the last survivor of the walled city's nine gates, straddled by a chapel with a large icon. Arrive just before the sun dips below the horizon to see the stone catch the final warm hues.

Head to Cozy, a well-named place with a laid-back restaurant upstairs. It serves hearty modern food with a few vegetarian options. It is open late, so you can stay as the evening settles in.
Local tip
Artistai closes at 24:00 on Mondays and 01:00 on other days, so plan your drink accordingly. The Gate of Dawn is accessible, but the chapel interior may have limited hours in the evening.
