Timeline
17:10
Arrive at Artistai pub. The large courtyard is the perfect spot to relax and watch the day wind down. Live music often plays, and the service is friendly. Order a drink and wait for the light to change.
18:17
Walk 14 minutes ESE to the Gate of Dawn. This is the last survivor of the walled city's nine gates. Straddle the gate and look back at the chapel with the large icon as the sun sets toward the WSW. The stone will hold the residual warmth of the day.
18:50
Head back toward the Gate of Dawn area (13 minute walk from the anchor, but Medininkai is right near the Gate) for dinner. Medininkai serves Lithuanian food. Note that reviews have shifted, but it remains a central option for traditional cuisine in this immediate vicinity.
19:50
End the night back at Artistai. The courtyard is excellent for settling in after dark. If the live music is still going, stay for the atmosphere. It is open until 24:00 on weekdays.
Local tip
The walk from the Gate of Dawn to Artistai is short, but if you are coming from the museum, factor in the transit. Medininkai is the closest restaurant to the Gate itself, but Artistai offers the better evening ambiance with its courtyard.
