Timeline

  1. 10:00

    Gate of Dawn

Enter the chapel at the Gate of Dawn to see the 17th-century icon of the Virgin Mary. The space is filled with pilgrims and quiet devotion. Follow the head-scarves through the Church of St Theresa to get inside.

  2. 10:15

    Halės turgus

Walk four minutes to the Halės turgus market hall. Built in 1906, it looks like a railway terminus. Head to the east side where food stalls and eateries serve breakfast and early lunch snacks amidst the bustle.

  3. 11:00

    Medininkai

Lunch at Medininkai, a three-minute walk from the market. It serves Lithuanian food in a setting that feels more tourist-trappy than authentic, but it is open and convenient for a quick bite after exploring the market.

  4. 11:45

    Bastion of Vilnius Defensive Wall

End your walk at the Bastion of the Vilnius Defensive Wall. It is a six-minute stroll from the restaurant. This artillery position from the 16th-century walls now houses a museum of the city’s military history, offering a quiet place to reflect on the city's past.
