Timeline

    Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park

Grab a coffee or a light snack at the Nature Center near the main entrance. The center is open June-Sept Sat-Sun noon-4PM, so if you are visiting in January, bring your own treats from a shop in Royal Oak and head straight to the park. If visiting in summer, stop here first to get supplies and see the displays.

  2. 17:26

    Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park

Walk down to one of the popular beaches on the lake. Find a comfortable spot on the sand or a bench facing west. The lake is calm this time of day, and the water reflects the changing sky.

  3. 17:46

    Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park

Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a warm glow over the two lakes. Enjoy the stillness as the light fades.

  4. 18:16

    Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park

Take a short stroll along the 10-km trail that circumnavigates the lake. The path is well-maintained and offers a different perspective of the park as night falls. Finish your walk back near the main entrance.

Local tip

Park access is free year-round. In winter, the Nature Center is closed, so plan to bring your own refreshments. If visiting in summer, the center offers helpful staff and displays on local history.
