Watch the sun rise toward the WSW. The first light hits the temple grounds, illuminating the lotus pots and the flower-filled paths that inspired scenes in the Tale of Genji.

Stay for the golden light. As the sun climbs higher, the warm glow enhances the colors of the garden. There is no food or drink available at the temple, so check the route to the nearest shop in Uji for breakfast once you are ready to leave.
