Timeline
12:00
Start with a slice of handmade cake and a strong coffee at Gaggui. This tiny café is known for its fantastic, site-made cakes and top-notch coffee, served with super friendly service. It’s a perfect, low-key way to begin your afternoon.
12:45
Walk over to Kortteliravintola Kerttu for lunch. This popular quarter restaurant offers a reasonably priced menu for both omnivores and herbivores. You can even use the laundromat on-site if you have time to kill while waiting for your meal.
13:30
Stroll through the Turku Market Hall. Completed in 1896, this hall extends across an entire block and offers a delightful atmosphere reminiscent of times gone by, where the old and new meet in the corridors.
14:15
End your walk at the Market Square. As the centre point of Turku’s commercial centre, it is surrounded by shopping centres, department stores, and independent shops. If it is a Saturday, arrive before 14:00 to see the farmers at their best.
Local tip
The Market Square is best visited in the summer before 14:00, when most farmers leave. On weekdays, the Market Hall and cafes are open from 08:00 or 10:30, making this a flexible plan for any day.
