Timeline
08:42
Walk up to the top of one of the lit slopes at Hirvensalo Ski Resort. The sky is still dark blue, but the eastern horizon is brightening. The air is crisp and still. You are alone on the hill, watching the first sliver of sun peek over the trees.
09:22
Stay for the moment. The sun breaks the horizon, painting the snow in soft gold and pink light. The four slopes are illuminated, but the best view is the sky itself. Take a deep breath. This is the peak of the experience.
10:22
Head back toward the city center. By now, the light is fully established. Walk into Café Qwensel, a charming spot with an old-world feel. Order a hot coffee and a piece of their homemade pastry. The warmth of the café and the sweet taste of the cake are the perfect reward for the early start.
