Best time: 18:30About 90 min

Timeline

  1. 17:45

    Lymbo

Grab a fresh juice and a bite of beach food at Lymbo. This simple beach club opens at 10:00 and closes at 18:00, so you have plenty of time to settle in before the evening rush.

  2. 18:05

    Tulum Archaeological Site

Walk to the Tulum Archaeological Site. You need both the M$100 entrance ticket and the M$415 national park fee to enter. Find a spot on the grounds that faces west to catch the final moments of daylight.

  3. 18:30

    Tulum Archaeological Site

Watch the sun set toward the WSW. The golden light fades quickly after 18:30, so this is the moment to appreciate the silhouette of the ruins against the sky.

  4. 19:00

    Playa Santa Fe

Head down to Playa Santa Fe. It is a less crowded beach with a smaller beach club, offering a quiet place to unwind after the main attraction closes.

Local tip

The entrance to the ruins requires cash for the site ticket. Carry M$100 in cash and a card for the park fee.

Check before you go

  • Lymbo closes at 18:00, so arrive before then.
