A late-summer evening aligned with history and architecture.

Best time: 3 JulAbout 90 min

Timeline

  1. 20:44

    Esaki Tongeren

Grab a steak and a drink at BØF. It is the closest spot to the viewing area, allowing you to eat well and walk off the meal in the early evening light.

  2. 21:09

    Tumulus van Koninksem (Paardsweidestraat)

Walk 43 minutes from the restaurant to the Tumulus van Koninksem viewpoint. This long walk gives you time to digest and enjoy the transition from afternoon to evening.

  3. 21:44

    Statue of Ambiorix

Stand at the Statue of Ambiorix. On 03 Jun to 09 Jul, the sun sets directly behind Rooi castle from this exact spot. Watch the light fade behind the historic whitewashed façade.

  4. 22:04

    Eetcafe De Griek

Walk 15 minutes to Eetcafe De Griek for a late dinner. The covered patio is perfect for staying out after the sun has gone down.

Local tip

The walk from BØF to the Tumulus is long. If you prefer a shorter approach, you can walk directly from BØF to the Statue of Ambiorix (approx 20 mins via the city center), but the Tumulus offers a different perspective of the landscape before the final view.
